Step One

Well the first step in our journey is done and Hadley did great!  The Dr. had a few problems getting the cath started and after sticking her twice in her left leg had to switch to her right leg.  She was asleep so I figure that is minor.  The great news is that he didn't see anything new and he said everything can be fixed. Praise the Lord!  He did go ahead and create a hole between her left and right atrium to reduce pressure in her left atrium.  So, now we have two holes to patch during surgery but he assured us it needed to be done to help her now.  They are so great at explaining everything but honestly sometimes it just doesn't make sense to me as hard as I try to listen.  He couldn't tell us a date for surgery because he is not the surgeon.  We are spending the night tonight because she's so young and her procedure was later in the day.  Tomorrow she will have a new echo and ekg and we will discuss a surgery date.  Then we will know if we go home for a while or stay.

Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers.  We have already seen God's love in so many ways.

Brent, Hanni and Hadley

Hanni, Before this is all over you can add "nurse" to your resume because you will know a lot! A lot more than you ever cared to know!!!!!!! Do like me and sometimes "choose" to not know everything! But take notes. That way you will have them when your brain is ready to absorb.

I told the science teacher that I taught with that I had a new reason for kids to pay attention during her class. Sure wish I would have known more about the heart! Thankfully after many, many explainations it got easier. Hang in there. Prayers being sent your way.

Lana mentioned Hadley's situation to me, and my thoughts have been with you and your entire family since. I am so sorry you are having to go through this experience. I am glad you did not have to wait an extended period of time for the surgery and that things seem to be progressing well. Know that you continue to be in my thoughts. XX, Sarah
